A few of my friends and I are in the planning stages for a trip to El Salto (or another Mexico lake)during June '08. I would appreciate any info/advice anyone would be able to give me to help us decided which lake...which lodge...even what types of baits we should be considering for a trip that time of year.

I went to Anglers Inn in June of this year. Fantastic service and some great guides.

The fish were eating crankbaits (big deep divers), T-Rig lizards and 10-12" worms, 3/4 ounce spinnerbaits, topwater (early and late) and Storm swimbaits.

Don't fish anything less than 20# mono. Make sure you bring reels spooled with 50 and 65# Power Pro also. The fish are not line shy and there are LOTS of submerged trees there. The fish are tackle destroyers there. They broke a few of my spinnerbaits and buzz baits, bent treble hooks out and anything else you can imagine.

You'll have a great time there. It will be warm and humid but the Siesta time makes it all worth it.

Mag'
I sincerely appreciate the feedback.

Did you consider any other lakes or lodges before you made your choice?

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

I went with my job and they had made all the arangements prior. I was not aware that there were any other guide camps on Salto until we were out fishing the first day. I would imagine that Anglers Inn has the best one out there. The accomodations and service was great.

The 10 best Texas anglers from basschamps just completed a national tournament against the 10 best anglers from Mexico at Sugar Lake. They caught lots of bass and had a great time. This lake is just across the border in south Texas and Falcon Lake which is one of the 3 top big bass lakes in Texas in on the way. You can fish two great lakes on the same trip. Kelley Mauldin one of our premier fishermans in south texas can provide you will more information 830-265-7680.
