did you try using a "chain type" stringer with all the snaps open and dragging it across the bottom? I know a guy who lost a rod and immediately got it back using this method .

Now that sounds like a great idea. I can see how that would work well with all clips open. They are strong enough to pull up a rod but if it hung up it would be easy to straiten the clips to get the stringer back and plenty heavy to sink.

Thanks for the tip!
I will get one just for this. We all have rods that cost some bucks.

I hope some how you get your rod back Swim-bait.com. It is a bumber to have to replace what you all ready had.
Best of luck!

Don.

Its a bit excessive, but, I recently saw a post on Westernbass.com about a guy who hired a diver to get it for him. But thats making a 600$ now a 700$ rod.
Anyways, its an idea. Go to any scuba diving forum or shop im sure you'll find someone.

A buddy lost a Shimano Calcutta jigstick ($240) and a Trinidad reel ($400) at Palos Verdes. He contacted a diving instructor that made his class' dive into a search and recovery drill. They found it in like 40 feet of water. Considering the wave and current action and being a week-plus later, that is amazing. Borrow a wetsuit and a mask and snorkel. 15 feet and no current should a breeze free-diving. That stringer dragging deal sounds good too. You'll get it back, good luck.
