Hi everyone. My name is Jim and I live in South Central Washington less than 5 mins from the Columbia River.I have been popping in alittle bit lately and reading alot of your threads.I like what I have read and have already learned alot of things about fishing for BIG bass.I have some small to medium lakes up here that I KNOW hold fish in the 9-11 lb or bigger. And if you know this area at all those are real big fish for this area.I will start using some of the things I have learned real soon.I am trying to put together a game plan to come down that way maybe in the fall.I would like to hit about 6-8 lakes on this trip.I will probibly start at Spring Lake and end at Castaic. To cut as many costs on this trip I will be using my float tube which I enjoy doing alot.So with the help of this site I will start doing my home work and try to get this trip planned.Thank you for allowing me to be here.God Bless...Jim

Thany You Wade and Bassman.
Hope to start putting some of the things I have learned from this site to use monday or tuesday.Water temp up here is still only in the high 30's.Picked up alittle 2.4 lb largemouth in 34 degree water last week.Berrrr.And I was float tubing to.Cold water big baits is how I'm going about it.That fish hit a "Double Wide Beaver"which is a pretty big chunk of bait. What temp should I start trying big swim baits? The lakes and ponds I fish don't have trout so I throw carp color swim baits about 9in.
I now is why it is so easy to get hooked on Giant Bass.Once again Thanks guys.GB..Jim

With a name like bronzeback you've caught a few smallies. Just think if they got the size of largemouths, what a fight. Which spring lake? There must be others but the one here in Santa Rosa has some mighty large fish. My pb came from there. The lake is still really muddy from the storms we've had lately but when it clears, it can be great. If you want give me a shout out and we'll fish it.

Show me the water, I will fish.

Hey Bassguy,
Spring Lake the one your talking about.Ever since that gal claimed to have caught the record in there a couple years ago I have always wanted to fish there.Everything that I have read about says there is REAL nice fish in there.
As for smallmouth I got my PB last year on the Columbia,it was 6.9lb.Should be in Bassmasters in the July issue. After reading so much about MONSTER largemouth I feel alittle silly putting that fish in the mag.I know it is a great catch but 10-15lb largies really excite me now.It would'nt be until the fall if I can make it down that way.As for now I'm getting readyfor the pre-spawn smallies to start showing up in the next 2-3 weeks.Should be PIG CITY this year.GB..Jim

Hey, a 6.9 smallie is a great fish. We have a few places to catch smallies down here. Lake Shasta, Pardee, Lake Sonoma, Berryessa, etc. I think Pardee just kicked out a 8.90 smallie a while back. Like I said we have a lot of great areas to fish. Good luck up there.

Jerry

Show me the water, I will fish.
