#3451, "BASS bias???"

I just wanted to ask something about BASS. Now, this is just my personal opinion, but has anyone noticed that BASS and their Bassmaster mag is a bit biased against the West? I mean, as a ex., their new addition they cover the top 5 LMB rivers in the west. But the Delta wasn't included among those 5! Like I said, this is just personal, but does the Delta not produce more and bigger bass than most of the rivers across America? I mean, for me this is just the tip of the iceberg on such problems but does anyone else have a opinion on this matter? I know that BASS has a mainly Eastern and Southern membership but does that mean Californian and other Western fisherman should recieve less attention? Once again this is just my own view, anybody is welcome to give me some insight. :)

Yep, I agree. There is a definite bias. I think that just about everyone agrees with that but hey, what can you do? I'm not exactly boycotting seeing as how I'm fishing the Federation classic in a couple days. :7

True man, I guess the less everyone knows about the great stuff we have out here, the better it is! :) Now, if we could only get them to forget about dropshoting...

Have to agree with Ryan and all the rest saying this may be a blessing in disquise.
Having just returned from fishing a tournament at Kentucky Lake
(and doing quite well thank you) I can say from experience that there
is an "attitude" towards the West in general.
Is it fair? - Hey, I can't really blame them. They've been the "Big Wheel" from the git go and don't want to lose that. Then, add to that the fact that many of the new Young Guns are former Left Coast
residents and they see the writing on the wall. Things change and,
as much as I enjoy heading south every year, they definately fight any change of any kind.

Your right. Bass fishing started in the South and I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I mean, I want to go to college in the South(New Orleans appparenty had an awesome med. school but tht key word there is HAD :( ) because of all opportunites for fishng they have. I don't blame BASS for catering to the Southern and Eastern bassers because that's where they have their roots. I was just thinking a little more about Western fishing would be nice and so would a larger western BASS division( But I guess that's why we have BassWest and WON, right!). Anyways, God knows Cali waters are already crowded, I guess i wasn't thinking about the throngs of fisherman that would start visiting here more often!

Yo DockBoy - Don't even give up on New Orleans. Give it a year and I'm betting the big easy is back and back bigtime.
Been around this globe of ours twice and have to say that of all the cities I've visited, NEW ORLEANS was by far the #1 spot. You don't need Marti Gras. All you needed was Bourbon St. and an open mind.
And, you want to go fishing and don't have a clue? Just head to the
bayou areas. The friendliest people in the world. They'll take you
just for asking and smiling.

Having grown up back east, and living in the south for too many years, I can say that the West not only has the best bass fisheries in the world, but the West also has the most versatile bass anglers. I love seeing how Western anglers go back east and dominate (ok, they dont dominate but usually do very well). Who cares about BASS, I dont.

And Dockboy, the bass fisheries in the New Orleans area cant come close to what you have in your back yard. Plus, that city is a sewer.
