Jon Kuch (Fishoholic), picked me up at 4:30 AM for our one-day foray to check out BPS in Vegas. We made good time and got there in 3h 50m going 70 (Jon is such a responsible driver). Passed a guy who weaved from being tired or drunk and then saw him about a 1/2 hour after we made a pitstop. This time his car was on a flat bed after apparently rolling into a ditch. Blew us away recognizing the car.
We knew we were in Sportsman's Paradise as the greeter at the store said, "Welcome to redneck heaven, everyone--have fun today!" That place is amazing--huge. We left with a modest bill of about $90 between us. On the way back, we stopped in Baker for a pitstop and had the best strawberry shakes at the Mad Greek drive-thru. They have got the fu-fu drink thing down--check the pix--only out in the middle of the high-desert. We were back in OC at 5:45 that evening. Nutty, yes, but lots of fun.

I don't know if it's in one of the pics or not but they even have the bottom of a boat set in the ceiling so it really does look like you're underwater. One of the tunas has a cedar plug in its mouth from a jigstrike. It was really a fun trip. Nice to actually see colors of baits, etc. as opposed to guessing from catalog pics. There's an "exotic mermaid show" in the saltwater tank that starts at 3pm but we had to split so we missed that as well as the $5.95 prime rib special at one of the casinos.
