I just got a rapala fish scale for my birthday a couple of days ago. It is the 50 pound one. I was just wondering how accurate these things are. If anyone knows, please post.

Can't realy answer your questions. But I will tell you I own the same scale, and it appears to be a quaility unit for the money.

Among all the brands of cheaper (like less than 40 dollar) scales, some scales will be good and some won't be. The only way to know if yours is good is to test. Take a gallon of water or some other 3 to 10lb object and weigh it on the produce scale at the grocery store. Weight it on several scales if you want. Then compare your scale. If it's way off, return it.

You know something i've been doing is taking meat that we buy from the grocery store and weighing that. If it matches the weight on the tag you're good to go. It's also a good way to see if the butcher's being honest. har har
