#1583, "Cancer ?"

Anybody know anything about lack of red eye (in photographs), in particular lack of it in only one eye. Everything we've heard and seen says there's a very good chance it means eye cancer.

Tonight we discovered our son has no red eye in his left eye in photos from a certain angle. We're going to try to get him to a Dr in the morning. In the mean time, we're scared. Lisa is freaking out, I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard. Haven't found any info giving alternate posibilities yet.

It's a parent's worst nightmare, just thinking about it. I hope we turn out to be just another set of overreacting parents.

Any prayers will be much appreciated.

Thanks Rob.

I forgot to mention that we've been watching that eye for the last year or so. He's had a lot of redness and occasionally some bumpy rough patches. He was checked about 6 months ago, but I don't think they dialated the eye.

Here's one of the pics, it's one of 3 or 4 signs he's exhibiting.

Lisa just called me from the Dr's office (I'm home w/ the flu). Mateo is fine. Though the Dr said that he's only the 3rd or 4th patient he's ever had that exhibited the lack of red eye and didn't have some severe eye problem (usually cancer). He told her we were smart to be scared and concerned. Praise God he is the rare exception.

So, parents out there, look at those photos. Get your childrens eyes checked while they're young. Most kids with eye cancer get it before they're 2 1/2. If it's not caught in time they will die.

Ed, first off I'm glad everything is OK. What a scary thing to go through. Thank you for your alert to get childrens' eyes checked. My wife and I are expecting in January and I've never even heard of looking at red eye(or lack of it)in photos. I'll be sure to check thanks to your advise.
God Bless, Chris and Angie Johnson.

Thanks Chris, we were blessed that this was a short wait for us. But, Lisa said that when the doc saw the same photo that I posted above, he was scared too. He was very suprised to not find cancer.

I didn't know you guys were expecting. Congratulations. It is an awesome ride. Are things well so far? Angie doing well? We had a very rough 9 months. Lisa was very sick and spent 2/3rds of it in bed. Worth it though, Mateo is the best. Do you know which model God gave you?

••• Another heads up. Get the "Angel Care" monitor. It is a room to room monitor that has an alarm that goes off if the baby stops breathing. Does it work? Yeah, it's how we found out Mateo was stopping breathing while he slept. We ended up having him hooked up to a full-on heart and breathing monitor for 7 months. Pay the extra money for this monitor. Spend the extra time to find it and buy it. As far as we know, it saved Teo's life.

We have a little boy coming. YES!!! I have learned more about babies in the last 5 months than I ever thought possible. We have looked at the kind of monitor you are speaking of and it's on the "to get" list. Angie has had some ups and downs, but as of know we are on a stable course. I think I know about 7 other people having babies in the next couple months. All fishermen too, must have all been inspired by the spring spawn...LOL.
P.S.- Really glad to hear that through all that, everything is now good, I hope we are as lucky.

Congratulations, CJ and Angie. It seems like everyone we know is having, or has just had, a baby! There will soon be a bunch of new babycalfishermen!

Congrats!

Thanks Summer!!! We are excited about it, Angie has a ten year old daughter(Nikki), who I love as my own, but this is my first attempt at the baby making business. The only unfortunate thing is that Baby Blake(so stoked it's a Boy!!!) is scheduled to arrive on January 3rd. That is the birthday of my step-daughter Nikki. Nice planning by us parents huh!!! Oh well, Nikki is excited about finally have a brother to boss around. When Angie says that the baby is moving around a lot, I just explain to her that he is practicing his hookset. Definite Calfisher on the way.

P.S.- Just traded AmishEd a baby swing for a Phenix rod today, guess this baby deal could put a dent in my tackle collection..LOL.

Summer, any Baby Swimbaits planned for the future?

Chris, thanks for the trade and the baits. It was good just to browse the shop, even it it was a first. Good Luck at San V.
