Those timberflash look exactly like the wooden River 2 Sea swimbaits... never seen the esdrive ones before though...

Timber flash has been around for quite a while, a year or more. Looks a lot like an AC Minnow.

No I don't have one. Somehow I heard about them a while back and looked them up.

I am gonna try and get one of the jointed top waters anyone know where I can get one? I found the on a Japense site they were around 40.00 but sold out.

The Timberflash is about 10 inches long, made of wood, and has a much tighter action than a Slammer or AC Plug. It will rise and drift below the surface of the water as you vary the retrieve speed. Only the tail wakes the surface on a typical retrieve with the Timberflash. It is different enough from other wood plugs to have is own place. I've had a few good fish locally on it, no hawgs yet.

The ES Drive is a very progressive design. It is only about 6 inches
long, is made of plastic,and is a sub-surface "dog walking" bait. The design originally came from Kikumoto(who also designed the Timberflash) while working with the lure company Gan Craft. Their bait called the Jointed Claw started the whole genre. Then Kikumoto(who designs the Combat Lures division of Evergreen) tweaked the design a bit and made the ES Drive. This sub-surface action has become the most desired technique for big bass in Japan right now. Jackall has introduced its Sride with the same idea, and the Triple Trout from Whitmer achieves the same action when cranked below the surface.

I've got a couple of each lure, but they are really hard to get. Even in Japan you rarely see them aside from internet auction sites. Even the tackle stores who get stock sell them at auction rather than just putting them on the shelf. You'll have to make a friend in Japan to get one for sure.The Es Drive typically sells for about $70-90 at auction, even though the retail is only $35 or so.

Remember that most of that River2Sea, Megabait, Strike Pro stuff is all knock-offs of original designs made with cheap labor in China. That stuff is junk.

Evergreen's lures are made by River2Sea's plant in China though...

River2Sea and others who manufacture in China like to claim that they make lures for Japanese companies, mainly to justify the fact that they knock-off popular designs. River2Sea made a knock-off of Megabass Pop-X starting several years ago, they never manufactured for Megabass. I know that this is the yarn that reps are spreading to help bring credibility to the Chinese made product, but every one of my Evergreen lures states that it was made in Japan.

Perhaps some of the high-end lures are made in China for major Japanese tackle designers, but no one has every told me that aside from reps trying to promote products from China.

R2S really does OEM for many Japanese brands. I've seen and handled some of the lures/blank body prototypes/samples OEM'ed for Shimano, Daiwa, Bass Pro, Megabait, Vagabond and others. The packages on some of these lures may say "made in Japan" but they're probably just assembled or packaged in Japan.

These brands' entire lines may not be manufactured there but some definitely are. The Japanese do have a history of using cheap labor from Asia.
