#1566, "Mounting a bow -mount trolling motor"

I wanted to ask, how would I mount a bow mount t-motor on my 14' aluminum Valco? We've only had the boat a year & so far have only used a transom mount. But the guy who got me started on bass is upgrading his motor & bringin' it down in a few weeks for us to buy. Do I need to buy a special bracket or mount?

Bass + Fisherman= BAASS ADDICTT!!!

You just need to find a way to mount it in a fairly level way. My boat has an aluminum cap at the point of the bow, it has a curve to it so I got some rubber spacers from the hardware store to provide the proper mounting height to allow it to sit level. I had to add spacers for 3 of the 4 mounting holes.
You may need to make a mounting plate to bolt to your boat and then mount your motor to it.
Let me know if you need details in how I did mine and I can take some pictures to show it to you.
Ken

Edit: this is for a foot operated trolling motor. If it's a hand operated motor you shouldn't need any special mount.

You can buy a mounting bracket, but it might be hard to find one that works for your boat and/or your trolling motor.

What I did was I took my boat and my trolling motor to a welder, I explained to him exactly what I wanted, and he welded me a perfect mount. You must take the motor so the welder knows the base dimensions and where to drill the holes for the bolts.

This may cost you between $100 - $150, but its well worth it.

The only downside is that once you have this made, you will only be able to use that particular brand/model of trolling motor. Get a different one and you will need to have a new mount made.
