The smaller of the two ice-chests will work fine. There is only about 24" between the two pontoons. If your dad can weld aluminum you will have a lot of different ways to modify the frame. I have modified two ODC816 frames. I added extensions between the main frame and the rear platform to allow space between them for the live-well. Maybe Sacto John has some pictures he can show you as his was the last one I(we) modified. What area do you live in? Maybe someone lives nearby that has one you could see to get some ideas. I'm affraid all of my photos were lost with my PC upgrade. Good Luck and enjoy the 816, it's a good boat.
