#21175, "Middle River Closed To Recreational Boaters"

In case any of you hear about this, no need to panic. I have spoke with the US Coast Guard and we shouldnt have any problems. Do expect more Sheriff traffic then normal and if you decide to fish Union Point marina you "could but doubtful" will be asked to leave the area.

STOCKTON, Calif. -- The Middle River in San Joaquin County has been closed to all recreational boating because of
the recent levee break.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department requested that the U.S. Coast Guard authorize the closure because of the
levee breach on Upper Jones Tract.

The closure encompasses the Middle River waterway between Santa Fe Cut, on the north side, and Woodward-Victoria
Canal on the south side.

Sheriff's patrol boats will patrol the closure area on a 24-hour basis. The San Joaquin Sheriff's Department will
constantly re-evaluate the need for the closure, according to officials.
