#13859, "Delta Federation Report, 2nd tourney."

Well, my second boat tourney is completed. Once again I had a great time. The weather wasn’t all that bad. Lucky for us the winds never came up. I pulled a great partner by the name of Sheldon Bright. Sheldon is the proud owner of a sponsored Skeeter bass boat. This boat was so new, it was still in the breaking in stage. We couldn’t go over 3500 RPM’s, and it had that new boat smell:-) Sheldon works for the fish sniffer and is now a good connection for the S.C.B.B.B.C. This guy fished a totally different style than my first partner. He say’s to me write off the bat that he was a cranker, and I mean that in the good way :-) So we covered lots of water and looked for reaction biting fish. This was write up my ally.

We hit this one real sweet spot and we both nailed small keepers, his on a speed trap and mine on a Poe’s RC3 all were a shad pattern. Then we hit another spot and we both nailed a small keeper each again. Then Im throughing a new bait and whammmo, Im into some thing real big baby. Sheldon grabs the net and Im fighting this very strong and energetic fish only to find out that it was a 9 pound catfish that thought he was a big ol bass. I thought for sure this was a Delta toad, oh well, it sure was fun playing him.

We hit this bridge in the last half-hour and Sheldon nailed two more small keepers cranking his speed trap. All in all, it was a blast once again and a day I won’t soon forget. This time I took control of the boat for a short while. Im telling you guys, for $20.00 in gas and a little help wiping down the boat afterwards, this is a good deal for the non-boater. So out of 40 anglers I came in 35th place with two fish.

Now Im ready for Spring Lake. See ya all there.
