I use the gammie 5/0 ewg hooks and they are plenty big enough. Remember bass are head hunters }( Most of the time they will just suck the senko in. I've caught 10 inch bass with an entire 7" senko in their mouth.
One thing you can do is to thread the tip of the hook further into the plastic. Then when you rotate the worm around the hook collar, just slide the excess worm up onto your line. This method also helps protect your knot. I do this with almost all my plastics. It also gives you a nice tight bond between the bait and the weight when you're fishing pegged weights.
