If you're looking for trophy bass in Louisiana may want to try Grand Bayou in Coushatta. It's the hottest public lake right now for trophies. I'm gonna try to make it out there in Feb/MArch next year. They were catching 40 lb stringers this spring...
Also you can try fishing Chicot State Park in Ville Platte LA, it's a shallow water cypress swamp. It's a smaller lake that produces a few 10-13 pounders... IT's a shallow water, flooded Cypress swamp filled with vegetation. It has northern pike in it too...
