#1128, "Repairing Optimums"

I have a couple torn optimum swimbaits. They're the original sinking baits in 10 & 12 inch lengths. After a fish or two and a day of casting the leaded hook is tearing out the head, and the wire down to the trailer hook is tearing the bottom.

What's the best way to repair these (glue, melt?) and can they be modified to be more durable? Super glue bonds well, but it kind of crystalizes the plastic and makes repairing them a second time even more difficult. I tried pro-rigging a 10 inch and it didn't go as well as I'd hoped :/
