All of the info from the guys is good. The tide is as important as anything. The motor oil gold and red flake are always a good bet. I fished Zuma and Pt Magu this morning for excellent results on the grub. 3/4 oz slider, 6lb and 8LB mono, with about a 18" leader. I agree that a long leader is trouble. The fish in the surf do not have a lot of time to eat the bait, so when they are on the grub they usually eat it good. I caught 4 decent sized halibut on the 3,4 oz mega bait by hopping it off the botom at slack tide. No keepers but a lot of fun. I saw a lot of guys out on the yacks. Nice day to be out. Good luck.
