#7154, "SB Halibut on the Chew"

I launched my float tube at a local area beach sunday morning. First I worked the shallow water for halibut using an excalibur crank. Got one strike about 10 feet from the tube and saw a flash, but I think it was just a mackeral. With the halibut prospects not looking so good I worked my way over to the kelp and started throwing the 4 inch Hammer in my favorite clear with red flake. Not even a stike. Decided to go back shallow and switched over to a fastrack. Wham, 23.5 inch flattie. All of a sudden after 3 hours of nothing the slow day suddenly gets much better. Two casts latter WHAM 26 inch flattie. Now it's a great day. Worked farther up the coast with no action and decided it was time to head in. As I passed by the earlier hali hole, WHAM 24.5 flattie. Now I am just dazed in flattie euphoria. About 4 casts later WHAM, this time it's a big run, then just sitting on the bottom like a log, then a big run again. I'm figuring it's the grand daddy of them all. Finally work it up the the surface, about a 16 inch flattie. By far the hardest fighting of the bunch and the smallest. If I didn't have to leave I'm sure there were more to be had. I caught them all in less them 1 hour, but fished for about 4 hours total.
