#14269, "Team Salty Rum or Red Balls at Dana 3-9"

Since I was coming down to work the Hammer booth at the FHS on Friday, I decided to come down early and fish before the show. The crew was supposed to be Karl (Team Salty Balls) and Pete and myself (Team redrum). We ended up with Brian (wookie wacker) as a last minuet addition. I was a little worried about 4 on board but it ended up woking out OK since everyone knew the drill.

We launched out of Newport and fished boilers South towards Laguna. There was a nice little swell kicking and some good water movement. Also a couple of tense moments when we were in tight, with peaks on the horizon and sucking boilers close at hand. Left the big motor running just in case, but never ended up needing it.

We had a nice slow pick on Calicos and Sandies to about 3 pounds with about 40 for the morning. At one point I look back and see Pete major bendo and running up the side of the boat. He was losing line for awhile before putting the wood to this beauty.

Hot colors were redrum (duh!) and Red Calico Hunter along with boiler crab and cosmic debris. Sizes fished were 4, 5, 5.5 and 6.5, uh forget I said 6.5.

FHS was good, didn't spend to much and had a great time in the Hammer booth. The baits are better then ever.
