#12655, "Santa Barbara & SMB Report w/pics"

Took my two nephews, Aaron and Daniel, who were visiting from Maryland, out fishing with my daughter Valerie aboard the "Big Drum". Aaron had his heart set on catching some Triggerfish in the Santa Monica Bay, but Daniel and Valerie out voted him on the decision to fish a Brown Rockfish honey-hole out of Santa Barbara. We left my house in Sherman Oaks at 7:45am and were fishing by a little after 10am. The weather couldn’t have been any nicer, we could see all the way to San Miguel.

Here is Aaron with his first fish of the day, a nice little Olive Rockfish.

After catching a bunch of Brown Rockfish, we moved out to some deeper water and finished off our limits with quality Vermilion and Copper Rockfish. Here is Daniel with one of his double hook-ups of Vermilions.

Since we didn't catch any Halibut I promised the boys that I'd take them out on Sunday in the Santa Monica Bay. On Sunday we drifted for Halibut between 2pm and 4pm. We only caught one Halibut but it was nice size 10 pounder.

Here is Aaron and Daniel with the Halibut.

We were going to try for some Triggerfish but we ran out of time. The boys had a great time and are looking forward to our trip to the Hotel Coral next week. I can't wait to see them trying to pull in a Tuna or Yellowtail. That will be fun see. I can't wait. BENDO!!
