#11543, "Heavy rain experiment"

I’ve never beat the bay’s, (SD and Mission) after a storm and wanted to get out and see what was up. Heres my story:

We showed up at bonito cove to pump up some ghost shrimp at the 11:30 low tide. Much to my surprise the weather was great and no contaminated water warning signs (should have been some signs as I had to dodge some brown trout not of the fish kind if you get my drift). We got a bunch of BIG ghosties and most had eggs. Any one know if ghost shrimp spawn this time of year?

Well we got our bait and 3 of us set out on the incoming tide to catch some fish. To make a long story short my pal and I got a few taps but hooked nothing. My wife beat us 2 – 0. She caught two of the biggest jack smelt I’ve ever seen.

Anyhow after heavy rains it looks like shore fishing the bays doesn’t pan out. Every other time I’ve fished this cove, I hit the flat with the drop off on the west side, I’ve picked up a gang of turbot at least. Anybody care to comment on rainy conditions?

The end
