My buddy and I headed to the beach south of Carpinteria, near the oil island at La Conchita. We fished high tide, and this time instead of fishing from the sand, we fished from the rocks.
Fishing from the rocks is quite a challenge at high tide. I wasn't quite prepared for it, but the hardest part was getting the fish up out of the water once they were hooked.
Kinda hard to bounce them up on just 4lb test, but we managed about a dozen or so between the two of us in about an hour. Could have caught more if we knew how to navigate the waves/rocks properly. All were caught on the Big Hammer 1.75" perch grubs, motoroil, with Calico Cocktail Pro-Cure.
Also saw some dudes catching little 5" perch on what looked like 20lb test....and they were just tossing them up on the sand for their dogs to play with. How cruel?! At least they didn't catch many.
