#7, "April 24-25, 1999 Pinto Lake Bass n Tubes Tournament"

The Bass n Tubes float tube tournament was held this Sunday at Pinto Lake. I came up on Saturday and
pre-fished with John Lake and three of the other guys (you're going to have to excuse me because I don't
know everyone's name). Anyway John and I got two fish each flippin' and we each got a fish in the 4lb
range. Sunday we were on the water by 5:30 with overcast skies. I flipped what turned out to be a 2.6
pounder at 6:15 on a black and blue jig. Minutes before I hooked that fish I also saw what wound up being
big fish of the day caught, a chunky 5.2 pounder on a brush hog. Unluckily for me this was my first and last
keeper of the day. I dumped another fish the same size around noon, caught a dink on a rattle trap and a
trout to boot. Most guys did well early with the action slowing down by afternoon. At the weigh in it was a
mixed bag with some guys getting the outright skunk, some with 2 or 3 fish and Tim Crane and John Lake
with limits. Tim won it with a solid 16 pounds 2 oz oz. He reported getting three fish in a row on a spinner
bait early including a 4.6 pounder. John got his fish flipping reapers and orange jigs. His limit was 11 pounds
and somethin. Next Bass n Tubes tournament, May 16, Lake Sonoma. Check out their webpage here for
more info.
