#6867, "Yucaipa Regional Park 11-19-02"

After getting some things done around the house I headed out to Yucaipa, and got to the lakes around 1. I went to the middle lake to take some pictures, and it appeared everyone wasn't doing to well. After setting up my two rods I went down to the bottom lake.

I walked to the far right corner and started tossing out some jigs. I got a few hits, but nothing solid, so I tied on a magic bullet. Sure enough on the first cast, I caught a small state fish. I thought that would be the ticket for the day, but nope, just two more fish on the bullet.

I then went on to the rocks and tossed out jigs again. This was the ticket, as the fish were only about 12 feet out from the rocks. If I wasn't getting a fish on every cast, I was getting hit. After a while a cormorant saw I was getting fish, and that bird came up so close, I could have hit him with my jig. One angler close by was saying how cute it was that the bird could catch fish.

All in all it was a great day for the 3 hours of fishing I did. The trout really wanted a darker color jig today. I stopped counting trout at 25.

Tight Lines,
Jason Huckeba
