Well, I wasn't planning on fishing today since I'm gearing up for this weekend at the Delta with the bass n tubes club but I got a call this morning from an old fishing buddy of mine David Jochman who's a member of the Santa Barbara Bass club. He was hoping to pre fish today for their tournament so I didn't hesitate to take him out (hey I don't mind fishing =) . We got out around 3:30pm and I thought I'd see if there was any crankbait action so we went to the swimming pool cove and boy was it dead. Hmmm, so after spending an hour or so there we cruised up the lake to Jackass canyon. David was fishing a mouse bait and had a pretty decent blow up but missed it. I had been throwing the 5" big hammer in brown/clear and flipping a little here and there when I finally got bit halfway down the cove on the big hammer and landed a solid fish that was probably somewhere between 3.5-4lb but I didn't put her on the scale. The rest of jacakass was a dud and by then it was getting towards topwater time so we tried a little up by whawheap ( I can't spell it but you know what I'm trying to say ) anyway that was dead too so back down to white oak we went. David threw a chug bug while I alternated between a spook and a skitter pop -nada- . Back to the swimbait and around 8pm I got tagged and had the fish on (a nice one too ) but it just fell off the hook. <BR>Something tells me that's going to be one tuff tournament tomorrow. If any of you guys who fished it are reading this I'd love to hear if anybody got on any kind of bite since I've been pretty stumped lately. <BR>Delta this weekend <BR>out
