#455, "October 1, 2000 Shadow Cliffs"

Summer and I went to shadow cliffs today on the main pond from 11 til around 4pm. It was really hot, clear skies and calm conditions. We fished all over the lake and it was "just one of those days". I had (no exaggeration) at least 50 follow ups throwing the 9inch slammer, the castaic hardbait trout, and the castaic baby bass. They would chase all the way up to the boat over and over again but would not bite. I saw a dozen fish over 5 lbs up to 9lbs and the thing that kills me is I almost caught the 9. I was throwing the baby bass and I got snagged on a tully so I yanked it out and then skipped it back to the boat. The fish boiled on it about 15 feet from the boat as I'm skipping it along but missed. Then it just sat by the boat while I cast to it over and over but wouldn't bite. I was getting seriously pissed today but I am looking forward to when it gets colder and we get some weather fronts. Then I will go over there and nail those fish. I could see catching a 30lb limit out of there if you hit it on the right day.
In other words, I got skunked!
