#3115, "March 1, 2002 - Quarry Ponds"

Hooray it's March. I think we're going to have some weather coming our way pretty soon to pay us back for all this Summer like weather we've been having lately. So I was back at the Quarry ponds today at lunch and I think the fish are feeling a little beat up. I had to work for them today. It was really windy around noon so I tied on a rattle trap and threw it out into the wind. Found one little spot and had two good whacks on it. First fish was a 2lb 6oz smallie that did 4 nice flips for me on the way in. That was cool. Next fish was a 3-1 largemouth about 5 casts later. That was all for the lunch run.

The evening run I set out to fish the very back of the Horseshoe pond. My very first cast with an old rapala fat rap got me a bite which was a kinda skinny largemouth. Fish probably weighed a pound and 3/4. I wound up walking all the way around the pond which was a lot farther than I'd anticipated. I was huffin and puffin by 6:45 when I finally got back to my truck. Well it was fun anyhow and a nice evening. Tomorrow I'm going to the Delta. I can't wait.

Pictography du'jour.
