Hey, it's winter again. Went to the lake tonight, didn't get there till 6pm. It was raining most of the time, so of course I threw trout baits all night. Decided to go for broke and spent most of my time throwing a 9" stocker trout. After quite a while I finally had a follower, hard to see in the rain, but the fish was around 5lbs. Next point I lob out a long cast way past the point, take about 10 cranks and guhhghh I get hammered but the fish doesn't stick! Huge circle of teeth marks from the eye of the bait to the hinge. Dammit!!! Started running all over the place to areas that usually hold big fish. Had another big bite swimming it over a tree. This one ate it below the tail and missed the hook again. Yes, I'm using a trailer hook, but it was just in the wrong place. So that sucked but it was good to get some bites on a new bait. Sooner or later one's going to latch onto that 9/0 or so hook and it's going to be on.
