Brian:
It might be a little early for a consistent buzzbait bite at Los Carneros. But later on in May through September, you can get into some pretty good topwater fish, especially early mornings and late in the day. The flooded brush on the left side of the entrance to the creek (before you get to the footbridge) is a good area in the warmer months for buzzbaits.
This time of year is definitely the time to be flippin jigs and plastics. Look for little pockets and "V's" formed by the bullrushes and flip your bait back into the cover and work the edges tight. Keep your eyes open for movement of the bullrushes too. It usually means you spooked that fish, but you can come back a few minutes later and get it.
