#17691, "January 2, 2010 - McClure"

Went to McClure again yesterday with cv and Nico in my boat. Water was 54 to 57 deg. Clear on the main body, dingier in some of the coves. Lots of boats today. Perhaps 70 in the Barrett south ramp lot. Angler's Choice tourney plus a lot of other people fishing.

We launched around 8am and fished till 4:45pm. Fishing wasn't as good as Monday. Seemed like the morning bite was very slow again. It was foggy/cold/overcast most of the day. Mid morning we had some flurries. Cris caught a 2.3lb black. We went through maybe 8 spots as well, and the ubiquitous trout.

After the tourney ended we found some of our spots freed up so we sampled some of our favorites and found a better bite. Caught about 10 spots in the last hour. Weighed a few of them. Finished the day with 8 and a half pounds. A good bag for right now. Granted we had 3 in the boat.

Split shotting and bottom dragging with light line continues to work for us. Nothing on reaction or swimbait. The water temps are there for reaction but the fish seem grumpy with the cold overcast we keep getting up there. It's weird how spots are, they keep changing what they want to eat every trip. Gotta stay on our toes for next weekend's ABA tourney.
