#17229, "Convict lake surrounding area rig newbie"

Heading up to Convict and surrounding area first week of June. Second trip fishing. I've read some of the articles for the lakes and streams so here's what I'm thinking. 6'6" Cabela light action set up for 2-8 lb line with a Shimano Sahara 750 and using 2 and 4 lb line with an assortment of lures. What do you think? Is that too light? Last year I borrowed some old Zebco with the Gulp? bait. I want to try something different. thanks
