I believe your set-up will work just fine. I'm not a fan of 6 lb line but that's just me. I have a Cabela's Fish Eagle ll 6' 6" med with a Quantum Kinetic reel, I spool it with 12lb floro, and no worries.

Show me the water, I will fish.
