I arrived at Karl's (OkieBug) house about 5:30 hooked his boat up to my truck & as we were loading I see Karl starring into the corner of his garage with a confused look on his face, "my trolling motor was there last night?" The moral of the story is DON'T LEAVE YOUR GARAGE DOOR OPEN OVER NIGHT!
Arrived at the lake to see a huge line, as many boats as I've seen here since opening day. We dedicated the morning to throwing/trolling the big baits which didn't produce for us besides 2 short strikes, 1 on the osprey and another on the Assassin both on the downrigger. I have to say how impressed we were with the action/paint job on the Assassin bait & for under $20 we don't get to nervous running them over points/highspots on the downrigger. Once the cloud cover burned off we started pounding the shore with the VERY impressive new "Silverside" pattern 3" Big Hammer (check 'em out at the Ventura FHS) picking fish here & there. We never really got a pattern on the fish catching them from 10-40 ft. but did manage a few nice fish topped by this one:
