Andy,
I like your comments on finding ponds. There is a lot of excitement in "discovering" your own place to fish. About a year ago I was up hiking on Bishop's Peak (actually I was trying to hunt quail with a sling shot, not luck though) and I came across the two ponds; boy was I surprised and excited. I didn't have my fishing tackle up here at school so I just forgot about them. I have my fishing tackle now and will go up there sometime. I have fished in the ponds by the poly vinyard, I didn't catch anything; but it was fun and I have heard from other people there is Bass and Blugill in there.
Another story about a pond in San Diego, there is a cemetary by my house where I thought there would be fish and I gave it a try and I must have been the first because I caught soooo many fish and they would bite anything, jigs, worms, lures made of flowers and grass!
