Tora tubes work awesome under the right conditions. Sometimes when the fish won't eat a swimbait, they'll eat the Tora Tube. I have mainly used the Tora's for site/bed fishing to coax big Females into striking while protecting the nest. They are also Delta favorites in the spring.(Ask Robert Lee!)

Dan Warme has a Bass Clazz video dedicated to nothing but fishing the Tora Tube, but it is hard to find! I think he filmed it @ Castaic before the influx of Stripers, and the video shows him sticking a 10+ pig on it.....AWESOME!

The Rainbow Trout pattern is the most popular, with Pearl White being the second favorite. As far as hooks go, Canyon Lures pours a custom mushroom shaped 1/2 oz head with a BIG straight shank 7/0 Gamakatsu hook to fit the Tora. Owner make a 7/0 hook, which would work great if you poured it into a leadhead. I like the mushroom head and the gammie hook.
Push the head up through the tube, and poke the hook-eye out of the tube... Just like you would on a regular tube. Toss the tube shallow, and work it like a hard jerk-bait.

I will usually start winding and snapping the tube the moment it hits the water so it does not sink. I only like it to run about 2-3 feet under the surface. If it does hit the bottom when your're fishing shallow cover....Snap it off the bottom abrubtly, and let it fall back down. Here is the website link, and some articles @ the bottom of the page.

I got a 3+ doing this @ Silverwood 2 years ago. The fish hit the snot out of it!

I hope this helps, and if you need more help...Call CJ or Tsunami (Brian) @ Bass World West. they'll dial you in!

Late!
