#9566, "Lake Gregory 5-1-03"
|
Lake Gregory is always a welcome place to fish at. My first time up to the lake this year started off with a bang. I got to the lake around 9, and launched my tube right away. I fished around the fountains and the buoy line. There was also three boats out on the water as well. I drifted some trout worms and tossed some kastmasters as well. After about two hours and only getting little fish, I decided to get out and get some food. As I came in, so did the boats. The wind had picked up some, and they weren't getting much, so they were all going to try their luck over by the big parking lot.
After some good ole McDonalds, I went over to the baseball diamond. I put on an orange trout worm, and on that first cast hooked into a fat three pound steelhead! After releasing him, I put on a new trout worm, and on the second cast, got about a 2 pound steelhead! I fished by the baseball diamond for another 2 hours and the action was nonstop on fish between 1 and 3 pounds!
All in all it was a great day! I released over 40 trout, and had at least 10 that were over 2 pounds. About half of the fish were on the trout worms, while half were on Thomas Bouyants. I did have one fish snap me off as well on a rainbow colored bouyant. I also got some sweet pictures of the lake as well for my site, which I will have up later on this week. Tight Lines, Jason Huckeba
