Took my neighbor fishing. Tried dropshotting in the east end and at the rock pile. My neighbor likes to throw crankbaits. The first time I took him out he caught a 4# LM on a shallow shad rap, and ever since it is just about all he'll throw.
After getting skunked on the plastics for a while, I gave him a deep runner and we headed over to rockclimbers. First cast, he gets a tight line. His knot failed as I went to lip a small legal for him. I asked what type of knot he was using. He replied "I wrapped it around the shank a few times and then cinched it." Oh well, it was worth losing a bait to find the pattern.
After I personally tied on a regular shad rap for him he boated another 2 within 45 minutes. All three fish were thrashed males that appeared to have just left the beds. 2 were caught casting to open water in climbers the other one was toward shore. I tried 2 or 3 similar baits, but couldn't get bit.
I guess that I am a better guide than a fisherman, but that ain't saying much. NoTrollMotor
