I had the day off so I decided to go chuck some wood at Santa Margarita. When I got there, there was some light rain falling so I was hopeful that the fishing would be good. The water temp was between 49 and 51 degrees and slightly murky, but not real muddy yet. I started out at White oak and worked the flats in that area for nothing. I made my into the marina cove and then crossed the lake and fished the opposite side. By this time things were clearing out and starting to feel very post frontal. I fished all the way back to the opposite side of the launch ramp with a jig and the 9" Slammer and never got touched. One interesting thing was that at the edge of the flat in White Oak, I metered alot of fish between 25-28ft. Then, everywhere I went in the lake I was metering tons of fish in this same depth range, even when they were suspended in 40-50ft of water. Perhaps dropshotting in this depth range could've produced some fish.
