Robert,
What a great day in the harbor! Just about all the lings I've ever seen have the small suction animals on the skin and sometimes big bugs we call lice in the gills. Many fish in the ocean especially ones that live in the sandy areas seem to have worms in the belly meat especially around the vent, but checking the fillets by holding them up to a light source will locate any in meat you would eat. Don't throw the meat away, just remove the worms and cook 'em good.
