Same story as yesterday only Poway was our lake today. Brian fished all day and saw very few fish. A big change from last Wednesday when I saw over 50 bass. I rolled in at around 5pm. Had a look on the fishing pier thing and saw a 12 or 13lber loafing through the cables. I didn't even bother casting at it for a while. I just watched it. Fish like that are probably the toughest fish to catch of any bass. Living on a spot where people fish all day. Suspending over deep water. I wonder if there is any lure that could catch a bass like that. I threw a 7" stocker trout at her, she swam off. Walking down the bank I had about 10 follows in the next 2 hours. I tried walking up on the bank so the fish wouldn't see me when they came into shallow water. I tried pitching a small jig at fish that followed my trout. All of the followers did about the same thing. They would follow it in from 1 to 10 feet behind it. When I stopped the bait because it got into too shallow of water, they would come up to it, then swim away and never come back and never follow it or anything else again. Darn that is a frustrating thing. We packed it in around 7:45, skunked again.

6 after work trips in SD and I never caught a fish. In a lot of ways that sucks, but it's ok. I tried a lot of new things. I tried a lot of old things that I hadn't tried in a long time. I feel motivated for when I get back to the Bay Area. I don't look back and feel like I did anything wrong. I could have been much more on the bite, but without being able to know the future, I felt like the things I did were legit and could have produced in the right conditions. Last Wednesday at Poway was my best shot at a good fish. The weather conditions were right, the fish were shallow and agressively chasing my bait. If my 2/0 gammie treble had stuck on the 15+ fish's back, it would have been one hell of a trip. So that's the fine line. I'll be back on the right side of the fine line sooner or later.
