#489, "October 17, Rancho Goleta Lake"

Pete decided to join me this evening for my nightly trailer park fishing. It was pretty slow during the daylight. I didn't pull a single fish until the sun went down. Pete had one dink pop off the hook while skipping it across the surface, and he got 2 or 3 during the daytime. I threw my old favorite, the buzz king jr. since I lost my rodstrainer yesterday. Oh man, I haven't fished that buzzbait in a while. I like that rodstrainer soooo much better. Now I got an excuse to go to Pete's shop in Arroyo Grande... Anyway, nothing on the buzzbait so I switched to a 1/4 oz. black single colorado blade spinnerbait. Pete had one of them big old pike jitterbug lures with the three trebles on it. We did pretty good. None of the fish tonight had any size to em, which was probably a result of my 1/4 oz. blade instead of the usual dual prop buzzbait. Blade fish are always fun though, I ended the night with 8 fish, all on the blade, about 1/2 of which were over 12", the biggest being no more than 1.5lbs. I don't know how many Pete ended up with, probably 6 or 7. It was fun, I like catchin blade fish. Maybe tomorrow I'll throw the 3/4 oz. black and blue spinnerbait. That's my standard night time bait, I haven't used it at this lake before. I'll give it a shot.
