#487, "October 15, RANCHO GOLETA LAKE"

That's right, I found out the name of the trailer park lake. Oh yeah. I made a solo mission today from around 5:15 till 7:30. During the daylight I threw senkos and did real well. I stuck a 3 and a dink and then saw a good fish come up to the bank (wall) and I pitched the senko just passed her. She spooked off the bank, but apparently came back around for it and I nailed a 3.5 with the head of a 4. Got one more 3# senko fish and a few dinks. Once the sun started to drop, I threw a buzzbait and nailed another 3#er in front of these college chix so that was cool. Once it got dark I headed over to the good water (which I don't fish during daytime cause it's too risky) and the buzzbait fish basically went off. It was lotsa fun. I bounced a 3#er and on the next cast stuck a 1.5# fish. worked down the bank a little, missed one. A little more, farmed one. I work down to this bridge and drag my buzzbait under these lights. The bait gets right in front of me, and for some reason I decided to drag it through the water a little more, instead of lifting it up. Sure enough, SLURP. I didn't think the fish was very big (you know the start of that sentence can't be good) and I saw it splash around up top a little bit, looked like another 3, so instead of properly playing it, I decided to bounce it right away since it was already right in front of me. It didn't pull any drag or anything so I figured it was bouncable. WRONG. I got to bounce it and get it's body about 1/2 way out of the water before the hook pulls out. I got a look at it and it looked between 4.5 and 5 lbs. Daggummit. I pulled another 2.5 lber. after that, but you know I'll have to be back for more of that. These fish have the black eyes of florida strains which makes me really interested... Might have to throw the trout plug tomorrow... Best 5 would've gone 16lbs. Good day.
