#1982, "October 21, 2001 - Shadow Cliffs"

I guess two days of fishing at clear lake wasn't enough for me :-)
With nothing to do this afternoon after coming back from clear around noon I dug out the float tube and a couple rods and jammed over to shadow cliffs. I started in the back ponds in the middle pond. It was kind of slow, I picked up one small keeper on a spook in about an hour. Now it seems like every darn time I go to shadow cliffs and fish the back ponds I am always tempted to go fish the main pond, and every time I fish the main pond I get nothing. Well tonight was no exception, only this time I actually hooked up. The main pond is pretty low, the ramp is unusable to give you an idea, and of course it's clear as always. I threw the spook around the weed beds on the marina end of the lake and after about 15 minutes a psycho fish explodes on it with literally 3 feet of line out. I can handle that! The fish was a beautiful chunk of a 3lber. Incredibly healthy looking. A few 6 inchers later I had another good one come up and swirl on the spook and landed another 3lber. After that it kind of died, I picked up one small keeper and called it a night. It was nice to finally get some bites in the main pond. Before tonight I had only caught one other fish in there and that was a 3 and a half on the slammer about a year ago. The air felt crisp out there, I love that feeling.
