Got on up to Mammoth finally for the last trip before the season closes up for good in Mono County. Left Friday at 8 and got into Bishop before 11:30, good timing from Palmdale. Then I proceeded to eat the hottest burger I've ever bought at the Jack in the Box in Bishop, I mean this thing just came off the grill. Got up early and on the Owens near Power Plant 3 in the Gorge....
And the fishing was terrible. Went to 3:30 on the fish-o-meter, without a single fish. Must've fished at least 1 mile+ of water and ended up with only 2 bites all day, both of which I missed. I flyfish, and my dad tried everything in his lure box to no avail. Irritated, went back to Bishop, ate a early dinner, tyed flies all night till 12 and hoped Sunday would be better.
We got up to the Upper Owens above the Benton Crossing around 8 or so. The trip was cold to start with and I was wearing 2 layers with waders and my big snowboard jacket and I still felt chilly. There was some snow on the ground and I didn't hook up until 9:30 or so. Nice little bow of about 10 inches on a nymph. Ended up fishing till 2:30, with 15 hookups or so, and 7 or 8 landed. The topping was the 4 lb. brown my dad nailed on a Super Duper fished close to the bank.
My best was a fiesty 14" bow that aboslutely demolished a streamer, it was a gorgeous fish, full fins, deep red and white fin tips. Overall, defintiely not my best trip up there but not the worst either, just a bit cold. :)

Bass + Fisherman= BAASS ADDICTT!!!
