You can still use crawdads, no waterdawgs. The only place I know that has crawdads for sure is a little liquor/ bait shop off N.Perris Blvd. Sorry i don't know the exact name of the place. If you exit the 215 onto Ramona Express Way towards Lk Perris you make a left on N. Perris Blvd, it has BAIT painted on the window real big, can't miss it. There is also a fairly new Tackle shop in the little shopping center where the others used be, it's on the right hand side of the road and in behind Farmer Boys. Not sure if they carry live bait, and again I don't know the name of the place.
As far as pointers, I'd say stay around in the marina, launchramp coves and hit up all those points. I would not recommend venturing too far out in a floattube, if the weather is warm when you go expect alot of boat traffic and jet skiers,it gets crazy out there. Most tubers I've seen lately launch out of sail cove and fish the dam and surrounding area.
If you have'nt been there in 2yrs you will get to see all the new homes and construction of homes around the entrance of the lake, more people and even closer to the lake...just what it needed.
Also just a suggestion, if Perris is not sounding too great to you maybe look into renting a boat at Diamond Valley Lake. No tubers allowed but it's pretty much a fishing only lake and might be a more enjoyable experience??
