My Dad use to take me to go fish Peck's Pit way back when. I have some pictures of the lake from the mid 70's somewhere in an old album. I remember you could drive your car all the way around it and park where you wanted to fish. At least then you could tie a safety rope to your bumper for fishing the steep spots. I've had a few close calls that almost left me swimming while fishing some of the lakes steeper shoreline areas. With out a doubt it’s a deep lake. It seems like the steep slopes just continue down ward after reaching the clear water until the bottom vanishes in to the abyss.

It looks like a good bass lake but its looks can be deceiving. I hit maybe 15 times for only 3 bass. The fishing there was never too outstanding the whole time I’ve been going there. I consider Peck’s pitt to be toughest bass water in the SGV and I’ve given up on the place. I will say the fish I caught there last season were nice (5 to 7lbs) and I lost a fish that spit the hook in the air it was a monster. Any of the lakes in the SGV are capable of big fish. If you fish Peck prepare to be skunked. Your chances of catching a fish will increase dramatically if you go fish up the street at Santa Fe Dam.
