Hello guys and gals! I see we have a virgin night largemouth fisherman. I would like to start out by saying hang-on, its awesome.. I am from East Texas myself and generaly do a whole lot of night fishing in the hotter summer months.. Maybe I can share some encouraging info.. For starters this is defenitly not the time for finesse fishing.. Infact you might need to break out the heavy artillery. I see your fishing in deeper and clearer lakes than I am used to however the same rules still apply simply becuase its dark.. Bass tend relate more to there other senses after sundown.. Instead of visual they use there sense of smell and vibration as detected from there lateral line more than not to fill there guts once light fades.. My personal favorite baits include a 3/8 ounce to 5/8 once black saphire jig tipped with a black/blue hawg craw for a trailer, a 5/8 ounce lockhart or hildenbrandt spinner bait with a number 5 or greater thumping blade also tipped with a pork chunk of some sort to add bulk, increasing water displacement creating more vibration black of coarse..especially on dark nights, If its a moonlit night I'll tend to add some whites and chartrueses to color selection. Large topwaters are extremely effective as well and can also be used as search baits becuase they cover a lot of water and create alot of attention for those lunkers looking for a big meal.. Large dark colored snake like worms are effective as well rigged either Texas or Carolina style depending on the structer or cover fished, these baits are more effective fished SLOW!! And last but not least and infact when it gets slow and nothing else seems to do it rig up a black/blue on dark nights or black/chartreues on moonlit nights hawg craw on a carolina rig with a 24-36 inch leader and atleast a 3/4 ounce weight and drag it over every peice of structer you can find.. Did I mention hang on!! In my experience bass seem to be way more aggresive at night then in daylight, during the dog days of summer anyhow... Cheers to your success and good luck.. P.S. send me some picts..
