#411, "Daniel's reel choice"

Daniel,
I know you're bored at school right now, so check out this link- http://www.sport-fish-info.com/dcforum/dcpages/tackle/4293.html# Larry posted some good info on the Catala. Dude, I don't know what I was thinking earlier, but Larry's post just woke me up- if you're fishing 10 pound, you don't even need a 300 size reel, 250 is fine. Don't worry about the reel clamp dude. That can be rigged up quite easily. So if you're gonna fish 10# on that stick, just go for the 250. You might want to fish the 300 anyway, and put 15# on it. I think the rod might feel more balanced with a bigger reel, and just because of the length, you could probably get away with heavier line. You're gonna move A LOT of line on the hookset, and too light of line will just snap on the hookset.
