I don't know about that stretch of the wood but I was fising the aquaduct around the avenal/coalinga area over the weekend and did pretty good with 3" Little Fishy Minnow in white color with 3/8 ounce lead head. My cousin order those somewhere not exactly sure. It wasn't wide open but it was consistent with 15 - 17 inch stripers. Also tried a storm lookalike in white color with little success. Only problem was that the tail was kind of small and didn't give my action out of it.
