I recommend the October issue (current) of Western Outdoors Magazine. It has a very informative article on research that videotaped the reactions of fresh and saltwater fish to different line types, different lure colors, different leader lengths, vertical vs. horizontal orientation of bait, etc. (e. g., water clarity differences along the water column, line visibility below fish vs. above fish).

This is very good reading that might inspire a very interesting thread on this board.
