I was thinking, since almost everyone has a bag of torn up old twin tail spider grubs, why not put them to use. During the winter bass are often tight lipped during a cold front or at any season for that matter. I found some old jigheads that needed to be put the use the other day & had some badly torn twin tails spider grubs that still had the skirt intact, so I cut the skirt off 'em with a razor. Bingo! I slipped the skirts on the jigheads & there you go, a small little customized jig for tough days out on the water. You can use just about any size jighead from 1/8 ounce up, perfect for when you need a slow falling bait. If the skirt slips, just a lighter or some superglue can be used to hold it in place. You can use any type of small trailer or do something like I did. After finding a similar colored paddle-tail grub for my jig, I took a large needle heated up by a lighter }( & split the tail right down the middle( I'm pretty sure a knife or razor could do this easily too). Thread it on the jig and you've got yourself a crawfish. The grub floats up off the jig hook, the split sections waving about like a craw about to get nabbed by a bass. For even more realism, put some little V's on the end of each spilt tail section or better yet, try it with a stand-up jighead. :-)
